help me with save file

i have edited some superstars attributes and names with dat editor but to use it i have to delete my old save.is there a way to keep my save file and use dat editor

no i wont use pcsx2.i use ps2.looks like there is no way to keep my save files i dont have a choice but to start new game

The game uses the chEtc.pac when you start the game and create new save. If the game senses you have no save then it uses chEtc. If there is a save existing then the game does not use the chEtc, instead it reads from the save. That is the reason behind this.
